To Renew Your Membership or Join the Lake of Bays Association

We would like to ask for your continued support of the Lake of Bays Association (LOBA); or if you're not currently a member, please become one. The 2021 membership year runs from November 1, 2020 to October 31, 2021. The Association and our 100+ volunteers, work to protect Lake of Bays by:

  • Testing, analyzing, and reporting on lake water quality.
  • Coordinating a discount propane program exclusively for members.
  • Monitoring proposed development of the lake and taking action where appropriate. LOBA is currently working with the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation, a lawyer and professional planner to oppose the development proposal for Langmaid’s Island.
  • Engaging with municipal elected officials and staff to ensure the Association and members are aware of important local issues.
  • Keeping supporters up to date through our Yearbook, Current Connection newsletter (see above) and electronic NewsFlashes (like this one).

As a non-profit organization, we work to keep costs low. Save us printing and mailing costs by clicking or calling to renew or join.

As most LOBA members are aware, since June 1, 2020 Hydro One customer on Time-of-Use (TOU) billing have been paying a fixed electricity price of 12.8 ¢/kWh all day (the Covid-19 recovery rate). This will end on October 31 and customers will have the option to remain with TOU pricing or switch to Tiered pricing, where you will receive a flat price regardless of time of day, up to a threshold kWh and then a higher price after that. There is no deadline to make the switch and customers can change as often as they wish.

Electricity needs of LOBA members vary considerably depending on factors like seasonal versus permanent residence, heat source, how much the home is used and what electrical appliances are running.

Hydro One has lots of information on their website as well as a calculator to help customers make the right decision.
