Discover the serenity of the Lower Oxtongue River in the company of your community members with only the sound of your paddle to disturb the beautiful scenery and wildlife that awaits you around each turn in the river. Bring your own canoe, kayak or paddleboard for this self-directed eco-tour. We will launch below Marsh’s Falls and paddle down the river to the mouth, before returning to the falls for lunch. This is an eight-kilometer route of easy paddling in the most beautiful setting in the township. On the river, you will be encouraged to sharpen your observation skills as citizen scientists; volunteers stationed along the river will help identify species and provide some background about the surrounding natural landscape. This event is presented jointly by the Lake of Bays Association and the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation. We hope you will be inspired to pick up your paddle and join us! Pre-registration is required and space is limited, so don’t wait. Please fill out the on-line registration form below.
