The District of Muskoka, Township of Lake of Bays and Town of Huntsville have announced they will hold a joint Public Meeting: Saturday June 2, 2018 9 a.m. Lake of Bays Community Centre 10 University Street, Baysville ON Read the full notice here . This is a very important opportunity to express your views in person to Municipal and District planners. Comments from this meeting will help inform the planners' recommendations to respective Councils. We hope for a good turn out to show the depth of public interest. LOBA and the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation (LBHF) are jointly seeking an independent professional planning opinion on this application and will be submitting comments prior to the public meeting. This open house will be an opportunity to get information about the development plan and ask questions of the developers and their consultants.

Fairview Island proposal approved by District of Muskoka Planning and Economic Development committee On April 19, the District of Muskoka Planning and Development committee approved the planning proposal for Fairvew Island. You can read the Notice of Decision here.

Lake of Bays Water Levels

A number of LOBA members have expressed concern about lower-than-normal water levels on the lake. We contacted the Water Management Department at the Bracebridge Field Office of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and thank them for their response, 

The water level on Lake of Bays is lower than usual for this time of year 

as a result of the delayed (approximately 4 weeks) spring melt/rains 

this year.  As you may have noticed, the lake is beginning to rise with 

recent rains and warm weather melting snow across the watershed.  

At this time it is difficult to predict exactly when water levels will 

return  to more normal levels and will be dependent on weather 

conditions (precipitation).

Below is a graph showing water levels for Lake of Bays at Baysville from January 1, 2017 to today. If you wish to monitor water levels, you can do so at this Government of Canada, Real Time Hydrometric data link . You can adjust the dates towards the bottom of the page.
